Forty days after His Resurrection, Christ gathered His apostles on the Mount of Olives, blessed them, and was taken up into heaven, where He is seated at the right hand of the Father — as both true God and true man, our humanity is already with Him. As the apostles gazed upward, two angels promised He would return in the same way. The Ascension is a Holy Day of Obligation in the United States, observed on Thursday in the ecclesiastical provinces of Boston, Hartford, New York, Omaha, and Philadelphia, and transferred to the following Sunday in all other provinces.
