Annunciation

At the Annunciation, the Archangel Gabriel came to the Virgin in Nazareth with the greeting, 'Rejoice, O favored one, the Lord is with you.' Her willing 'Let it be' to God's plan made her the Mother of God and opened the way to our salvation. The feast is kept on March 25.

Prayers

Apolytikion of the Annunciation (Tone 4)

Today is the beginning of our salvation and the revelation of the eternal mystery: the Son of God becomes the Son of the Virgin, as the angel Gabriel announces the good news. Therefore let us also cry out with him to the Theotokos: Hail, O full of grace, the Lord is with you.
