St. Agnes

St. Agnes, Virgin & Martyr

Agnes was a young Roman girl of about twelve who died a martyr around 304 for refusing to deny Christ or marry a pagan. Her name means "lamb," and lambs are blessed on her feast in Rome, their wool woven into the pallia of archbishops. She is the patron of young girls, chastity, and victims of abuse.
