St. Thomas Aquinas
St. Thomas Aquinas, Priest, Doctor of the Church
Thomas Aquinas (1225–1274), the "Angelic Doctor," united faith and reason in his great Summa Theologica. A humble Dominican friar who called all his writing "straw" after a mystical vision of Christ, he is the patron of students, theologians, and Catholic schools — a favorite intercessor at exam time.
