St. Josephine Bakhita, Religious Sister
Josephine Bakhita (c. 1869–1947) was kidnapped as a child in Sudan and sold into slavery, later discovering Christ in Italy and joining the Canossian Sisters. She forgave her captors, saying they too were enslaved by what they had done. She is the patron of victims of human trafficking and of Sudan.
