St. Catherine of Siena, Virgin, Doctor of the Church
Catherine of Siena (1347–1380) began having visions of Christ as a child and grew into one of the most remarkable women of the Middle Ages — a Dominican tertiary who tended plague victims, wrote a famous spiritual Dialogue, and persuaded the Pope to return from Avignon to Rome. She is the patron of Italy, Europe, and nurses.
