Sts. Peter & Paul, Apostles
Peter the fisherman, first to confess Jesus as the Christ and the first Pope, and Paul the Pharisee, apostle to the Gentiles, were both martyred in Rome under Nero around 64–67. Their shared feast celebrates the twin pillars of the Church — the rock of Peter's authority and the fire of Paul's missionary zeal.
