St. Clare of Assisi, Virgin
Clare (1194–1253), a noblewoman of Assisi, followed her friend Francis into radical Gospel poverty, founding the order later called the Poor Clares. She carried the Blessed Sacrament to the convent gate to repel invading soldiers. She is the patron of television, eye disease, and embroiderers.
